Maharashtra Government Orders Drought Survey in 19 Additional Talukas
The Maharashtra government has directed an immediate survey and ground-truthing in 19 talukas, in addition to the 265 talukas where drought has already been officially declared. This decision was made by a cabinet sub-committee during a meeting held on Tuesday, according to marathi.abplive.com.
The move comes after public representatives requested the government to assess the situation in other areas of the state. The cabinet sub-committee instructed the administration to conduct a survey of 20% of the five major crops in these 19 newly identified talukas. Officials have been ordered to submit a report on their findings as quickly as possible, marathi.abplive.com reported.
