Nagpur police are investigating an alleged extortion attempt in the Tehsil police station area, where three individuals reportedly demanded a monthly payment of ₹20,000 from a tea stall operator. Separately, authorities in Nagpur conducted a raid targeting the sale of banned gutkha, seizing goods valued at ₹95,000.

Extortion Case in Tehsil Area

According to nagpurtoday.in, a case of alleged extortion was registered after a complaint detailed a series of events involving three youths. The incident reportedly began with an assault on a two-wheeler rider and escalated to threats with a knife at a tea stall.

Details of the Incident

The complainant, Sanjay Kharbikar, reported to police that he was returning on his two-wheeler after visiting Panchpawaleshwar Temple. Near the railway gate before Panchpaoli, outside Bhisikars’ tea stall, three youths allegedly obstructed his path, according to nagpurtoday.in.

When Mr. Kharbikar asked them to move, an argument reportedly ensued. The three individuals allegedly abused and assaulted him. They also reportedly damaged his motorcycle by striking it with a stone found on the road.

Mr. Kharbikar subsequently went to a tea stall operated by his friend, Chandrashekhar Bhisikhar. The same three youths allegedly arrived at the tea stall shortly thereafter and reportedly assaulted Mr. Kharbikar again. When Mr. Chandrashekhar and his friends intervened, they were also allegedly threatened, nagpurtoday.in reported.

The complaint states that the accused allegedly brandished a knife and demanded ₹20,000 every month. They reportedly threatened to kill the complainant if the money was not paid.

Police Action and Accused

Based on Mr. Kharbikar's complaint, Tehsil Police registered a case against Soham alias Sonu Nimje, Akshay Dhakate, and a third unnamed accused. According to nagpurtoday.in, Nimje and Dhakate have been arrested, while police are actively searching for the third individual involved.

Police indicated that Soham Nimje has previous cases registered against him, including those related to the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and illegal weapons. Akshay Dhakate is also reportedly involved in previous criminal cases, nagpurtoday.in stated.

Raid on Banned Gutkha Sales

In a separate development, police in Nagpur conducted a raid targeting the sale of banned gutkha. According to Nagpur Today, the operation resulted in the seizure of goods valued at ₹95,000.
